Talkish Waitlist Privacy Policy
Talkish運営事務局 ("Talkish", "we", "us") operates the waitlist for the language-exchange app Talkish. This Policy explains how we handle the information you give us when you join the waitlist.
1. Information we collect
- Your email address
- A record of your consent (the date and time you consented, and the version of the consent text you agreed to)
- The language of the sign-up page and referral parameters (identifiers showing which ad or link brought you to the page; these do not identify you personally)
- Your IP address, used solely to prevent spam and abusive sign-ups (rate limiting). It is not linked to your email address, and the records used for this check are automatically deleted after a short period.
- Your approximate country or region: we store only a two-letter country code (such as JP or US) determined from your IP address when you sign up. The IP address itself is deleted after a short period as described above; only the country code is kept with your sign-up record.
The sign-up form collects only the information above. Separately, certain browsing data is transmitted to Meta when you visit this site, as described in Section 3.
2. How we use it
- (1) To send you launch and beta-test announcements for Talkish (including information about the founding-member benefit and how to receive it)
- (2) To send you occasional updates about Talkish, such as development news (only if you have consented)
- (3) To compile aggregate statistics, such as the number of sign-ups, their breakdown by country or region, and referral sources (in a form that does not identify you)
- (4) To prevent spam and abusive sign-ups
3. Analytics and advertising (Meta Pixel)
We use the Meta Pixel, a measurement tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States), to measure the effectiveness of our ads and optimize their delivery. When you visit this site, your browser transmits the following information to Meta:
- The URL of the pages you view and the referring page
- Your IP address and information about your browser and device
- Identifiers set by the Meta Pixel, such as the _fbp cookie (valid for approximately 90 days)
- Actions on this site, such as viewing the sign-up page or completing a sign-up (events)
Your email address is not sent to Meta.
- Recipient: Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States)
- How we use this data: to measure ad performance (which ads led to sign-ups) and to optimize ad delivery (reaching people likely to be interested). We see this data only as aggregate statistics and never receive it in a form that identifies you individually.
- How Meta uses it: see Meta's Privacy Policy (https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy) and cookie policy. Meta may associate this data with your Meta account, if you have one. Under some U.S. state privacy laws, this kind of transmission for advertising purposes is referred to as "sharing" of personal information.
If you prefer not to have this data transmitted, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you have a Meta account, you can manage how ads use data from partners in your Meta ad preferences (https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences). U.S. residents can also learn about and opt out of interest-based advertising by participating companies at https://www.aboutads.info.
4. Third-party disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We will not disclose the information you submit through the sign-up form to any third party except with your consent or where required by law. Browsing data transmitted to Meta when you visit this site is described in Section 3.
5. Where your information is stored / outsourcing
At this time, we do not outsource email delivery to any third-party email service provider. Your information is stored in Supabase, a cloud database service provided by Supabase, Inc. (United States). The database servers are located in Japan (Tokyo region). If we begin using an email delivery service or otherwise change how your information is handled, we will revise this Policy and let you know on this page and by email.
6. How long we keep it
We will delete waitlist information within 6 months after we finish sending the launch announcements. If you unsubscribe, we will remove you from the mailing list immediately (except for consent records we are required to keep by law).
7. Access, correction, and deletion requests
Contact us at [email protected]. After verifying your identity, we will respond without undue delay in accordance with applicable law.
8. Scope of this Policy
This Policy applies only to the waitlist. A separate privacy policy for the Talkish app will be provided at launch. The waitlist is currently intended for residents of the United States and Australia, and is not directed to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Canada. Talkish is a service for people aged 18 and over; the waitlist is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
